Carusos Oscar Picks!!

Its Oscar season again! The 82nd Academy Awards are right around the corner! There have been a lot of good movies over the past year. It's going to be a tough decision. There are a lot of movies up for best picture. The nominees are Avatar, Up, The Blind Side, District 9, An Education, The Hurt Locker, Inglourious Bastards, Precious, A Serious Man, and Up in the Air. This year I am betting on District 9. As much as I loved all the other movies there is something different about District 9 that really stands out for me. The concept and creativity that comes from District 9 is something that should be recognized. It was a great movie and I recommend everyone checking it out. As for best actor in a leading role the nominees are Jeff Bridges, George Clooney, Colin Firth, Morgan Freeman, and Jermey Renner. I am going to go with George Clooney on this one. He really proved himself in this movie. I didn't feel like I was watching George Clooney, he really got into his character and became his character and I forgot he was George Clooney. As for best actress in a leading role the nominees are Sandra Bullock, Helen Mirren, Carey Mulligan, Gabourey Sidibe and Meryl Streep. Sandra Bullock hands down. Most of us are so use to seeing her in fluffy roles that don't really do her any justice. This role is something completely different that we are use to and she really proved herself as an actress in this film. To wrap up the top 4 awards the nominees for best director are James Cameron, Kathryn Bigelow, Quentin Tarantino, Lee Daniels, and Jason Reitman. James Cameron for Avatar no questions asked. That movie is incredible. It is going to be an exciting night for the movie industry. Dont forget to tune in this Sunday March 7, 2010 @ 8:00 on ABC to see who takes home the golden oscar!

Michael,

I am going with The Blind Side.  I don't think that Inglourious Bastards deserves to be there.

Much of the acting was good, but I agree with the pick of Sandra Bullock.  It was an unexpectedly nice performance.

Go Kathryn!  Her ex (James Cameron) has already won enough awards, and besides he had much more funding for Avatar!  Enjoy the Oscars Michael, Cherise
