ARE YOU A RESOURCE FOR YOUR LOCAL MEDIA?  I am sure that many of you are already well connected with your local media however, I thought it might be a good idea to share the great experience that I have with a local newspaper The Conroe Courier.  The Conroe Courier is a division of Houston Community Newspapers which have local newspapers all over the entire Houston area.

My article entitled "The Commercial Foreclosure Opportunity" was featured in the Sunday section of the paper along with many other articles that I have written for them in the past.  I have never considered myself to be a professional writer, simply passionate about what I do.

One day a few years ago after reading the paper, I realized that there were not many commentary stories from real estate agents on the current issues and topics in our industry.  I picked up the phone and asked to speak with the editor and after sending him some ideas for stories, he agreed to run my features. 

I couldn't believe how simple it was and how rewarding it has been for me.  I will see people all of the time who say, "Hey, I read your article!" "  Now that is awesome!  Not only is the article in the paper but people are actually reading it!   :)

You can be viewed as a wonderful resource for your community by putting your articles in front of a huge audience.  And now with most papers online, you are now reaching an even greater amount of folks.  Along with Active Rain and outside blogs, having timely and informative articles in the paper are a great way to become known as a top real estate resource in your area.

If you have never taken the leap with your local newspaper, give it a try.  I would bet that many would be thrilled to have the great information that you post right here on AR in their papers!  Good luck to you and I hope to hear of your success!
