There are 5 abilities everyone needs for personal development.  It is a proven fact, your success is directly proportioned to your personal development.  The more personal development the more success you attract to yourself and your business.

The first ability:  THE ABILITY TO ABSORB or in other words to "GET IT".

There is nothing worse than being stupid.  Not having information to make intelligent decisions is really bad.  Nothing worse than that unless you're broke too.  Being stupid and broke that's really bad, unless you're ill as well.  Now being stupid, broke and sick now that's really, really bad.  That's about as low as it gets, unless you want to through in ugly.  Now that's ultimate negative lifestyle scenario, ugly, sick, broke and stupid.

Get it whatever way you can...books, CD's, DVD's, seminars, even life experiences.  Get it whatever way you can.

Second:  To respond...LET LIFE TOUCH YOU

Let happy things touch you. Sad things touch you.  We need to be affected, we need to moved, we need to impressed.  It's not what happens to us that is important but it's how we respond that is important.

Third:  REFLECT ON YOUR EXPERIENCES

At the end of the day reflect on who you saw and who you met that day.  What did they say?  How did they feel?  How did you feel?  The end of the week, reflecting on the highs and lows of the week.  Reflect at the end of the month, reflect at the end of the year.  What did you do? What did you experience?  Reflect on how I would do things the same way or would I do them differently.  Keep a journal.  Reflect on your experiences and invest them into your future.  For instance, a 75 year old man would invest his experiences into the next year, now that's 75 years of experiences invested into the next year.  Wow!  Now that's an investment for living.  Instead of saying, well I'm 75 now, I think I can just hold on for one more year.  No, that's not living.

Fourth:  LEARN TO ACT

Don't live "the get by life".  Spend this capital you have put together from the first three.  Without action they are worthless.  You must put into action what you've learned.  Don't be like the man with $1 million in his bank account and all he does, is write $1.00 checks.  There is no action or it's the wrong action.  Don't be that guy.  Write bigger checks invest in your self.  Action translates into a human reservoir of abundance.

Fifth:  SHARE IT ALL

Have a life process that is giving more than you receive.  Live in abundance and share that with others.  Look at Andrew Carnegie he made $400 million and gave it all away.  Look at it this way, you have a full cup.  can you pour any more in the cup?  No, not until you pour some out.  Some people have their cups upside down, nothing can get in and nothing can get out.

Sharing acts in your own self interest.  If you give it's an investment.  This investments muliplies it will always return more than you gave.

What is good life? Living abundantly, living productive, investing in ourselves by improving our minds, giving more than we receive.  It's not living stupid, sick and broke.  You can be ugly and still live an abundant life.

HAPPY TRAILS,

DK

Nice post - well written and thought out.  All the abilities you outline here will definitely help us to live more abundantly.  One area I'm not good at is reflecting on my experiences. I'm going to reflect on that for a while and see about improving in that area.

Donnie...

I will not absorb. I will not be touched. I will not reflect. I will not share. But that's just me :)

Donnie, stupid, sick, broke and ugly is pretty gloomy!  How 'bout old?  That can be a bit of a bummer, too.

Donnie - Nice post.  Getting older used to bother me but no longer.  What choice do we have?  It sure beats the alternative!  With all the sickness I hear about, I'm okay with even another wrinkle!

I loved your "in your face" article, pretty much said it all. I am in agreement with everthing you said, but luckily for us some will just never "get It"..

Great article Donnie.

I am reminded of the scene in Animal House when Dean Werner says to Flouder, "Fat, Dumb and Stupid is no way to go through life, son."  As a real estate coach and a turn around expert, (and a seasoned real estate professional) I'm still amazed to see how smart brokers and REALTORS screw up their businesses. The Vaughan Company was the single largest independent brokerage in New Mexico.

This is a great example of a huge real estate firm that also..."didn't get it."

They're Chapter 11 and more than likely 100% toast. Tsk. Tsk. Another business statistic. And the sad part of all of this is that it NEVER had to turn out this way.

The company is millions of dollars in debt and the founder, Douglas F. Vaughan is too. He filed for personal bankruptcy protection and left the firm on 26 February, 2010. Then he was arrested for a revoked drivers license and then it goes from bad to worse... he was under investigation for fraud of securities violations. Here's the story.

The firm has ZERO page one visibility on line and a crappy website at that. One of the worst I've seen in a long time. For some reason, they're linked to Leading Real Estate Companies of the World which sort of makes me question why they're adding their distinctive stamp on a website that looks like it was banged out the same McWebsite template that 10,000 others have.

The irony of this is, the video for Leading Real Estate Companies of the World's CEO is featured on a video on the home page -- which firmly states when you see the Leading Estate of the World Logo... you can be assured you are working with the best of the best."

Uh-huh. Right.  Sure you are. I have no clue what kind of real estate Kool-aid you're drinking... but it's certainly giving you rose tinted glasses. Your logo is now attached to brokers who commit securities fraud. That's got to make your customers feel right at home.

This is an awesome post!  I absolutley love this.

Being stupid though is different than being ignorant.  If we do not have knowledge but are capable of learning it, we are ignorant.  Being stupid is when we have knowledge and we ignore that knowledge as though we did not have it.

If you remember someone always has less.

If you can give even a little ..do so

it doesn't as stated above always have to be about money either.

Enjoy the day

Donnie,  this was a fun read.  Are these your own pictures?  I especially liked your comment about having our cups upside down and nothing can get in or out.  Times are tough but everything is relative.  I'm sixty but compared to the 84 year old I played golf with yesterday, I'm young even though my grandchildren think I'm old.  I have struggled to keep my company open during these challenging economic times but I live in a beautiful home on the beach and have plenty to eat and wear so I'm rich despite the fact that my husband tells me how poor we are.

Life is good but it's a choice!!
