Are your FACTS just Fantasies?

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with iTexas Realty Co.

Finding information from various sources that support your pre-conceived notions does not make them FACTS.

If your FANTASY says you can buy a distressed home in San Antonio, Texas for pennies on the dollar, you might be disappointed to learn that you do not want to live in a distressed home, or spend the money to fix it- or live in that neighborhood.

There is always a good reason why homes sell for “pennies on the dollar”-

What do you think those reasons might be?

It is highly unlikely that Goldilocks decided to move the Bear family to Detroit.  Or that Cinderella got tired of living with the Prince in that fabulous castle- and moved to a loft downtown.

Before you decide that you should only consider looking at homes that are distressed sales, have a candid talk with us and find out how to explore all of your options for finding a great home, at a great price, in a great neighborhood.

In other words, let's separate Facts from Fantasies and move to your Dream Home.

Indeed. Our biases predispose us to seek out information that will confirm our biases, not demolish them. But it is never a wise idea when it ocmes to buying a home (or selling it, for that matter) to be that subjective.

Sara, well said. Some Buyers after purchasing "good deals" find themselves in a "money pit" home, which can put them into a very difficult financing situation.

Hi William- All those pre-conceptions.  They can really cost a buyer...

Hi Irina- Most Buyers don't understand that there are properties, that by virtue of their poor condition, are not even eligible for financing and are strictly for cash buyers/investors.

Thanks for commenting!

Steve,

Great Post.  It is so true, after looking a couple of those distressed homes many buyers are in total shock.

Thanks for sharing,

Everyone wants a deal, but very few people understand exactly what a deal is when they see it. They want more for less.

It's the "something for nothing" people who drive me nuts.  Real estate has turned into a Flea Market!

We are blessed with lots of business from really nice people- which makes it even more aggravating when a 'tire-kicking fool' calls looking for a 'steal'...I feel like asking them where they hide their mask and gun! THANKS FOR ALL Y'ALL'S THOUGHTS! -Steve
