"Hi I Found You From Your MARKET REPORTS" ...

Get around the MLS criteria of not using them to create your market reports, but never say an agent can't produce a market report. The knowledge you gain in doing a report is amazing and worthwhile for a long time coming.

And for the comment that stuff hit the fans after you started doing the reports, it's because other agents were scared and jealous of what you were accomplishing.

Good luck on your listing, but may you not want to turn this into a Members Only article until you get the listing?

Market reports have been the mainstay of my blog for almost 3 years now and I know they get read by many, many consumers....everyone wants to know what's happening in their neighborhood, whether they are considering selling or not.  I know that I've landed listings because of the research that I do every month to put them together AND it keeps me up to date with the "how's the market" answers.

I'd be interested to know if Karen could use the data from the MLS but create her own charts/graphs/spreadsheets to let people know market conditions in their area.

Sheldon - market reports are my babies - LOL. I too get a bit touchy when constantly I hear and read complaints about posting market reports. For me too they are the most read posts, ever, and we too have gotten business from them. and not to let the cat out fo the bag but... what the heck. I am working on something big, concering streamlining market reports for agents (well for those than can post and publish them). Targeting a launch just before the summer rush. :)

Oh, one more thing. Yesterday I was on the phone with a local reports for 2 hours because he found me - guess how??? - market reports - yep. He is going to use me - haha - as the go to person for all his real estate articles. This is the only paper that gets delivered around here nowadays - about 30,000k copies, once a week. Talk about HUGE potential.

Hey Sheldon :)  Congratulations my friend.  Market reports DO work, and you have just proved it :)  I'd be out of business if I didn't do my reports since I deal with Engineers.  Keep up the good work!!!!

I get calls from people who have seen market reports though I rarely get comments except from other members of AR.

Hi Sheldon ~ Nice to see this post. I am very consistent with my market reports, don't get many comments and haven't got any calls from them yet either. As you can imagine it's not the easiest thing in the world to keep on churning them out, so your post is a great motivator, reinforcing my resolve to stick at it, knowing that eventually the phone will ring... (Of course I also have Renee helping me there - she churns out market reports like no other reminding me that consistency is the key to success!)

Sheldon: Yup!  That's exactly right!  I've garnered quite a few clients from Active Rain because of my Market Reports.
