Lake Katherine Area of Columbia SC
In the early 1900s Lake Katherine was a vacation spot with a few weekend cottages on dirt roads scattered along the banks. By the 1950s the City of Columbia had expanded to the largest in-town lake and brick ranch homes were being built by the hundreds. The Lake Katherine neighborhood is defined by Beltline Boulevard (the old trolley line), Forest Drive, Trenholm Road, I-77 and Fort Jackson Boulevard. MAP
Today the Lake Katherine area is one of the most desirable neighborhoods inside the Columbia city limits for families with some of the highest rated schools in the district. A lot of the homes have been magnificently upgraded and the mature azaleas and dogwoods put on a beautiful show every spring.
There have been 25 home sales in the past 12 months with prices ranging from $112,500 to over $670,000.
Currently there are 30 homes for sale in Lake Katherine from $112,500 to $1.295 million and below are photos of a few.
Over 2100 SF with a great screened porch for $199,000

Updated home among the pines on Lake Katherine. Over 3100 square feet $885,000

As kids we used to love to ride our 10 speeds along Shady Lane because it is extra wide. Now, our family always loads in the car on a mid-December evening and we enjoy the Christmas light displays around the lake. Christmas lights always look good reflecting off the shimmering water.
