Every road I have traveled;
every bridge I have crossed and every choice I have made has prepared me for this very moment, right here, right now. Every trial and circumstance I endured through a tumultuous childhood, adolescence and young adulthood has refined my personage as a kiln refines the potter’s clay. I have made it through my refiner’s fire. If anyone told me that I could go back and change it all; I would say, “No.” For in that change the person I have become and am today would not be.
Knowing that each one of my children hold values of helping those in need, uplifting those in desperation and withholding judgment until they have walked a mile in another’s shoes; I am leaving behind a legacy that may continue through to my grandchildren, great grandchildren and so on.
There once was a man who fell down a deep and dark hole. There he was alone with no way out. As he sat there he could hear footsteps of those above walking by. Every once in a while he would call out, “Hey, can you help me get out of here?”
A doctor walked by, heard his call and went over by the hole and said, “Here is a prescription for some medication that may help you out while you are down there.” The doctor threw the script down the hole and walked on.
Next a Preacher came walking by who heard this man’s plea for help. He stopped by the hole and wrote a prayer on a piece of paper and threw it down the hole.
Just then his very good friend was walking by and heard his call for help. The friend jumped down into the hole. The man looks at his friend and exclaims, “What the heck did you do that for? Now we are both stuck down here!” To which his friend replies, “Yes, I jumped down the hole to be with you, my friend, but I know the way out!”
This is the friend that I strive to be to all people I come into contact with. I see the good in each person I meet. My dream and goal is to help others to see their greatness, to know they are God’s children, and to help them to become all that they are designed to be and for each of them to truly discover their passions, visions and dreams and then set forth to make it so.
Active Rain is one of the vehicles that I am able to use to make a difference in the lives of others, fellow agents and clients. A medium of expression in which I may be able to touch someone somewhere and help ignite the spark that is within them.
I strive to live a life of compassion and empathy towards others without judgment. My friends all know that I do not pass by a beggar without emptying out my change for them.
“When I was in hunger, when did you feed me? When I was thirsty, when did you give me drink? When I was in prison, when did you visit me? When I was sick, when did you come to succor me?” This is asked of all and then Jesus says, “When you did it onto the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.” I am no judge for another’s circumstances and I can only reach out my hand. It is up to the other person to take my hand.
When all is said and done and I kneel at my Lord and Savior’s feet; he places his loving arms around me and says, “Well done, my good and faithful servant, well done.” It that moment tears will stream down my face as I look down upon my posterity and those I have known in my lifetime and know that the legacy I leave behind are footprints of love.
