I will admit being guilty of actually stopping my jet skis in the middle of the inter-coastal waterways and making or taking cell phone calls because I have reception.  (I have used my cell phone at my son's football games, family events, etc. so I try to go somewhere with my husband where I cannot use my cell phone).  So what you are looking at is what he gets (would be a bad place to hang over the side and use my phone).

What do you do to get away from your cell phone?  Photos are welcome

I drop it in the lake, the ocean, the tolet. Yes every cell phone of mine at one time or another had been dropped in water.

Julie, I discovered that a combination of the "off" button and voice mail are the best features of my cell phone.

Brian,

Thank you for your comment - I have vaguely considered that option but the unfortunate part of being the owner and qualifying broker places me in the dubious position of not having that luxury....my agents and builders have a right to have the confidence that I am available and they do not take advantage of it but......bottom line......I am responsible for my agents and builders.

Simple, just turn it off for the time you are spending with you family or event.  Then when the event is over turn it back on and return the voice mails.

I turn it off now, I use to leave it on 24/7 but realize I have a life too.... No more 10pm phone calls for me,,, off at 9pm weeknights and off at 2pm on weekends. I read a book this past week on vacation that had a question: "Do you want to be the LO that is known for answering his phone 24/7 or do you want to be known as the LO that is Worth Waiting For?"  I choose the 2nd since I know that my service is well worth the wait.

I have heard many agents recently leaving the message... "I return my phone messages from noon to one and 5 to 6,"  so I'm guessing someone is teaching this in a Real Estate class.  I agree with Leo I used to be a prisoner to my phone, but I learned.  Lifes too short to be held hostage by our phones!

I think that is fair for a real estate agent to be available for calls during segments of the day. I had clients calling from the East Cost or even Europe at the most inconvenient hours... expecting me to be sharp, awake and ready for conversation.

Who can work like this?
