standing out in a crowdIf you're just stepping into the real estate business today, you may be wondering how you will make it through the challenge of the current real estate crisis.  If you've been in the business awhile..you many be wondering the same thing! One of the keys to surviving the challenge of a crisis is to understand what's important and then figure out how to give what is actually needed.

In the age of Abundance Differentiation becomes the King!  in some ways, the rise of Blogging is a direct response to the need for differentiation.  Today, on-line consumers are indicating:  I don’t just want to know WHAT you know…I want to know WHY you think certain things are important & HOW your knowledge & training can be of benefit to me in MY particular situation.

You see, when everyone has access to every listing & tons of data, the value of information alone diminishes.  Therefore, Consumers are finding it more difficult to sift through this deluge of information to synthesize an elusive, and far more valuable quality called Relevance

 Relevance is what provides context for the value of ones choices.  Relevance is what informs me about the viability of a particular home or neighborhood in relation to my life circumstance.  Relevance is what ensures that the transaction I am entering into does not disintegrate into a nightmare because I had just facts without the benefit of applied wisdom.

So what is Wisdom?

Wisdom is the ability to translate facts/statistics aka knowledge into Meaning.  Facts by themselves don't provide answers.  Facts need the benefit of interpretation which is greatly enhanced by dealing with experienced and properly trained professionals. Real  estate practitioners who understand the critical nature of Wisdom in the real estate transaction will watch their Values soar! 

Real estate agents who provide Meaning in a way that responds to the expressed desires of their clients with sensitivity & integrity will never go out of style.  Real estate agents who create Relevance within the context of the transaction will find their services to be Irreplaceable.

So there you have it!  3 Keys to being Irreplaceable in today's market...Remain Relevant, by using Wisdom to translate the facts/knowledge of the real estate Process into something Meaningful.  This formula is seldom impacted by the downward draft of economic conditions...in fact, it tends to thrive most vigorously within an unpredictable environment.

Michelle...it's not just the real estate community which is being changed by access to information.  Just about every profession now has much more information available online.  This is good, but there are limitations.  Information will only get you so far...knowing what to do with it and when it is actually valid is critical in many cases.  This is the true work of a professional in my opnion.

Lisa...Sorry to hear about your day.  Doing everything right doesn't guarantee success...you're right about that.  But, it does improve the likelihood of success over time.  And since, it's a process, we have the opportunity to learn even when things don't go like we would like.  Hoping that all things work together for your good over time...

Most salespeople (should) know that a good presentation presents the features and immediately turns them into benefits.

It seems like you did a pretty good job of explaining ways to break down these into benefits: relevance and meaning.  Wisdom is what allows you to take that feature and define that benefit to your prospect in a way that makes sense to your prospect.

Lola, I agree one hundred percent. Thankfully,I am not a data person, I am a people person.  My goal with my real estate blog is to reach buyers and sellers who need my services and my experience of the past twenty years in real estate. It is that simple. Consumers really responds well to "what's happening stories" and sharing of information that is relevant to the area. By allowing our own personalities to shine, consumers naturally gravitate to those they believe they can work with.

I just love it when I get a caller calls and say's "Peggy, I feel like I know you already after following your real estate blog. From the photo's of your dogs, to the story about the buyer that was so frustrated and how you help them to the local For Sale By Owner Seller who just gave up and called you. I knew you were the agent who could help me, thank you!" Lola, I am no longer a secret agent....thanks to blogging and Active Rain I'm no longer surviving but thriving!
