Beth, I think Blogging is a fabulous idea. I was wondering, if I want to write on one of the topics for our EWM blog, can I post it here and then transfer it to the EWM blog when it is up and running?

Hey Paula - welcome to AR.  Your post shows me a good thing to point out.  You address your post to me and posted it only in the EWM AR group instead of out to the entire AR community.  This is a great use of our AR group for our questions and answers about the company blog.  I would hope that Kevin and MAggie join in with tips and hints as well.

Now, to your question.  You hit on the "duplicate content" nerve.  Some bloggers feel that it is a big no-no to post something in more than one blog.   Although, I will leave that debate to the experts, here are a few things I can suggest.

If you look up the Real Estate Tomato in active rain and read his blog - you can see how he handles this duplicate content thing.  He either posts his entire article and then puts it up as "members only" or he puts a lead paragraph and then a read more link that leads to his blog outside of active rain.  By posting members only -it will not go to the search engines - so only the other blog will get picked up.  The reead more is kind of like using AR as an advertisement.

So, after this long winded comment, my suggestion is to post here in AR - us it to work the kinks out.  Maybe the comments you get will give you an even better sense of what your EWM post should be.  If you really want to save something for the EWM blog - use Word and save it.  You will be able to copy and paste as soon as the site is up.

HI Paula, I'm new to this also but you know what realy helped me is that I just read all the posts and the different groups for a few days and then I kind of figured out what a post should be!... Then when I finally got the nerve to do it, I read it and reread it about 4 times before hitting that post button... YOu can save it as a draft also , in case you want to save and continue so to speak......

So have fun!!

A few things: Welcome!

#2 When you respond to comments you must be signed in.  Look at the comment about mine where it says: by---your name isn't there because you haven't signed in.

#3 Always, always use spell check! In the blogosphere your writing is like your personal appearance on the net.  NO mis-spellings, especially with spell check.

#4.  Have fun and learn.

Paula, welcome and congrats on your featured post! This is so exciting that more and more EWM agents are jumping on the blogging bandwagon, I am going to have a hard time keeping up reading everything. For me it is great to learn about other agents from the company, especially since we are so spread out. I think it will be a perfect forum for everyone to meet, network and share ideas.

Thank you Kevin. I see now that my name does not appear, although I think you meant to write above. =) I appreciate the tips and this is meant to be a test to see if my name does appear. I did not log in, but my screen shows a "log out" option - which leads me to believe I am indeed logged in somehow.
