I was excited to attend my first Active Rain Event, if you weren't at the Olive Branch off exit 20 in Baltimore, you missed a great opportunity to meet some awesome folks.
Unfortunately I was late because my family and I rode bikes on the BWI trail (12.5 miles). I am in training for a Triathlon Sprint in June, so the beautiful weekend gave us a great opportunity to get the bike out of the basement, dust it off (yep, it was covered in dust) and ride the trail. I grossly underestimated the time it takes to ride 12.5 miles when you haven't ridden a bike for years. I got there as soon as I could, and got there just as dinner was being served.
I was able to see and spend some time with Dr. Stacey Ann Baugh, a wonderful realtor and friend with whom I have been partnering for a few months thanks to AR. Margaret Rome is just as lovely in person as she comes across in her blogs. She went out of her way to make me feel welcome. I am truly looking forward to her AR open house event on Monday, March 8th at 2716 Spring Hill Road in Owings Mills, MD so I can spend more time and get to know Margaret and the other AR folks better.
I was fortunate enough to sit next to Brian Mayer, the only other mortgage person at the dinner. He is new to the business and based on our conversaton is sharp and honest. He is a go-getter and I wish him well. I got to meet John MacArthur and Lourdes Tudelo, Olney realtors who Dr. Stacey used to work with. I have been reading John's blogs for a while and I am not sure you will find someone elso who shares the down and dirty both personally and professionally so eloquently. Little know factoid, John has arthritis in his thumb. I also got to meet Rich Iarossi, I've read a lot of his blogs too. I missed the one about Santa being gutted in his front yard. You will have to read his blogs to find out more! I got to meet C Tann-Star, a fire-cracker from New York. Yep, she made the drive and booked a hotel just for this weekend's event. She told me a little about her art and her wee people and her town. I can't wait to spend some time reading her blogs to get to know more about her. Ellie McIntire popped over to our end of the table, I am hoping to spend more time with her at the open house tomorrow. She lives and works very close to me and her picture truly does not do her justice.
Unfortunately, I didn't get to meet the other folks that were there, but am looking forward to spending some time tomorrow and catching up.
Oh, I bet you are wondering about the headline. Margaret promised dinner on her for the first 10 people to respond, but she picked up the entire check! That is one classy lady!
Thanks Margaret for a great event and a wonderful dinner. I am looking forward to learning more at the foot of a master. You are an inspiration.
