Dropbox: Great new tool for sharing documents with clients

By
Real Estate Agent with Real estate agent at Oak Real Estate

Could Dropbox end the need to e-mail, fax, or deliver real estate documents to clients?  I think it could.  Dropbox is a new service that syncs files online and across computers.  In other words, you can create a document, drop it into the Dropbox file on your desktop, and give access to another user who has Dropbox installed on their computer.  In regards to the document sharing capabilities, it's similar to Google docs, but has a lot more to offer.  No need to e-mail, download, or fax a document again.  Another benefit it offers that can be especially helpful in the real estate field is that Dropbox creates automatic backups, so that if you're working on a contract and sharing it with a client, but then decide you like the previous draft, you can always go back to it with minimal effort.  Not only is Dropbox helpful in drafting and sharing, but you can upload all relevant documents for a transaction into a single folder, so that you or the client can access them from any computer with Dropbox.  There's even an iPhone app for it, for all you lucky people who get good AT&T service (don't get me started. . . ).  The first two gigs are free; after that, there's a monthly or yearly charge depending on how much space you need.  There's a lot more to it than I can go into in a blog post, so check out www.dropbox.com for more info.  And no, I'm not getting paid to endorse it - I just see that it has a lot of potential to help keep clients informed and involved throughout the transaction!

I'll have to check it out.   I often use Google Docs to share documents back and forth, but it sounds like this may be even easier.
