I was a bit taken back when I was meme'd by Melissa Olson. Generally I like to fly under the radar leave a few comments, do a post or two and vanish into the night. I leave the heavy blogging to Dan the Running Man. So to come up with 5 things, that you did not know about me......hum, I needed to give this some heavy duty thought.

Here goes:

 1) I met the man of my dreams when I was 17, on a blind date no less. My sister fixed us up. We have been together ever since, and there is no one I would rather share my life with. It has been almost 30 years now. My sister also fixed up another couple on the same day; they also have been married many years.  So, never let my sister fix you up!

2) I love to read! I will read just about anything. And many times I will be reading two or three books at once. When I have nothing new to read I will re-read old books.  When I find an author I like I will read everything they have ever written. My youngest son is always amazed when I can remember the plot from a novel that I read in elementary school. I have books all over the house and one whole wall in my office is filled with books.

books

3) Even through I love to read I cannot spell! Never could. Had one teacher in 5th grade try and teach me, but she gave up. I hated the saying "Just look in up in the dictionary", because I could never get anyone to understand that I could not just look it up for I didn't even know what letter the word began with! I spent many nights in school going through the whole dictionary looking up words. I think spell check is the world's greatest invention.

4) I'm a picky eater and eat very little. There are very few vegetables that I will eat. I am a meat and potatoes kind of gal. I'm a junk food queen.  I have been known at restaurants to order dessert for my meal. For if I order a meal I will be too full for dessert! My motto is I eat to live, not live to eat!

5) I'm a strong believer in public service and giving back to your community. My family was always involved in community service, and I grew up with the notion that it was something everyone did. That you need to find something whether it's a local charity, town government, PTA, or your local church and become involved. However, you never do it for the recognition or the hopes of increasing your business, you do it in the hopes that you will leave this world a little better off than you found it.

I now meme the following Ray Saenz and Kelli Fronabarger and Suzi Gravenstuk.

Well, as my son used to say, as he opened his last Christmas present, Guess I'm done!

Sandra, I can't spell either, and how in the world can someone look something up in the dictionary when they might not even know how to begin to spell the word.  That is my problem by the way ....... LOL

And OH YAH does Dan know about this guy that your sister fixed you up with 30 years ago :)

Dan - more like a trip to the book store.

Suzanne - Don't you know that the preservatives in junk food keep you looking young? It is a very well guarded secret : )

Melissa - Well something else I learned about you and from your picture you can never tell that you love junk food.

Teri: Something we have in common! Is your hubby a running nut too? After people hear about me and my sister's friend they will not let my sister fix them up! LOL

George: You are too funny.  I would hope Dan's heard of him. LOL

Kelli: Thanks for stopping by....look forward to reading yours.

Ray: Who doesn't like junk food? The difference with me is I go for it! LOL Look forward to reading your meme.

Thesa: Yeah, almost 30 years with the "running man"! Impressive, huh. Dan should get a medal. LOL

Sandra--He was a 7 day a week (sometimes more than one game/day) softball nut when I met him. He now coaches one of my sons baseball team. He is just starting the running thing...I have my son ride his bike along with in case he needs medical attention!:)

Teri: Too funny...Dan used to coach our sons in baseball when they were younger. Now he is into this "running" thing. Keeps trying to get the rest of the family involved, but so far no takers.

Sandra--My husband will get the boys to run but only when they are preparing for the mile run for PhyEd. Then my husband will get upset as the boys run much faster and aren't nearly as tired. Someone at work ran a marathon and he thinks that would be great fun...He is on his own with this idea but I hope he tries...If I dangle that Dark Chocolate bar in front of him like a carrot it might work :)

Hi Sandra,
What a neat story about your blind date and meeting your husband.  Do you have children?  The reason I ask, is I love to read but with a 3 year old and my real estate business, I cannot find time for reading.

Thanks for a good post.

I love junk food as well. I just learned to cut down..about half...as I used to do the same...eat dessert for lunch. Then I would have a sugar rush and then get real tired after.

Thanks for sharing.  My husband is very intelligent but the spelling thing he has a problem as well. He says..thank goodness for spellcheck!

Yes, I have been busy, plus I thought I told you I had writer's block! And I do not write like you, you seem to be able to turn out wonderful posts left and right.  I wish I had you talent, I would be posting daily if I did : )

Sally

Thank goodness, another soul mate. I have been taking quite a bit of heat here due to my choice of foods.  As for my spelling, it has gotten better, but there are many times spell-check can not even find the word I'm trying to spell.  I appreciate you stopping by.

Sandra, I really enjoyed your meme!  I won't rag you about the junk food.  Chocolate is my downfall.  But you have the junk food trained Girl.  It doesn't show on you!  Do you think you can give me your sister's number?

Beth- LOL, I would ask my son, but he can spell either!

Maggie- Yes, I do love my junk food, the secret is not to eat a lot of it a one sitting. My sister is always offering her services, but with her track record everyone is afraid to take her up on her offer.
