7 Comments on Brevard County Students will Begin FCAT Testing Today
Sandy the government thinks if they throw money at each school district then the scores will go up. I think you know it's the parenting and discipline that makes these scores stay up. My daughter actually went to the lowest performing school in our area (which is still pretty good) and received a scholarship to LSU. If it hadn't been for my wife and I keeping her in line she would have went another way.
Sandy, I am not even smart enough to figure out the acronym not to mention the test itself...

There a lot kids with FCAT stress, I wish them all good luck.
Good luck and success.

Sandy,
What fun for them!

And MacDonalds' was offering some free breakfasts! Rumor has it that the FCAT program may not be here much longer.
John, Great point and great job to you and your wife. I agree, you've got stay on your students and expect the best from them. It really is all about parenting, isn't it? Sounds like your daughter is a hard worker.
Paul, I'll tell you, I've seen some of the questions on the practice FCAT test and oh my goodness - some are really tough! I'm not sure that some adults would be able to pass the test.
Lou, I know there is alot of stress associated with the FCAT. I remember one year when my girls were in elementary school, the FCAT was being given and there were over 50 students that were out with the stomach flu. Hmm.
Ann, Oh, yeah, great fun, right?
Gabe, We weren't able to get to McDonalds for free Egg McMuffins and Apple Dippers. I hope they do away with the FCAT. I don't think it should be used as a make or break situation. It should be used as a benchmark to see where a student is having problems, not as as a pass or fail.
Sandy,
Well, it gets them out of listening to a boring instructor?? ;-)
