The Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce (GACC) http://www.abqchamber.com/ celebrates its 90th Anniversary this year, having started in 1817 as the Albuquerque Commercial Club.
Under the leadership of Terri Cole, President and CEO for over 23 years, it has grown to become the largest business organization in the state of New Mexico, representing 5,300 business members and has gained national recognition as a model for Chambers of Commerce.
The current Chairman, Paul Sowards, is the President of the Bank of Albuquerque and the Chairman-elect, Don Chalmers, is President of Don Chalmers Ford.
I am proud to be a part of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors serving as Vice Chair for Entrepreneurship and Small Business. Joining and becoming involved in the work of the GACC was one of my first undertakings when I started my business - http://www.eloisegift.com/.
I value being a part of the greater Albuquerque business community as a small business owner in our delightful Duke City, recognized as one of the best places to start a business.
I value the Chamber in its mission to be a membership organization dedicated to meeting the identified needs of the Albuquerque Metropolitan area by fostering economic opportunity and a favorable business climate within the region.
At our annual meeting July 18, we rolled out our agenda for 2007-2008. This year, for the betterment of our businesses and community, the focus is on the following areas:
- Healthcare
- Regionalism
- Transportation
- Entrepreneurism and Small Business
- Workforce Development and Education
- Crime
