Brighter Home Sale Horizons for 2010 in Central Iowa?

Okay, 2009 was clearly a rough year for home sales in Iowa...and nearly everywhere else for that matter. According to a report released last week by the Iowa Association of Realtors, home sales were down slightly from 2008, the average home price dropped ($140,899 in 2009 compared to $144,113 in 2008) and homes were on the market an average of 3 days longer than the year before.

The good news? Numbers were improving during the last quarter of 2009, due in part to the first time home buyer tax credit, which ended in November 2009, but was extended and expanded to include other buyers through April 30, 2010. And, personally, I'm seeing a strong start to 2010. It seems optimism is returning to the market.
