After a nearly 5 year run at the Las Vegas Hilton, Barry Manilow has made his cross town move to Paris Las Vegas (Twitter @ParisVegas). This will be Manilow's Las Vegas Home for at least the next 2 years, and a new show based on the recently released "The Greatest Love Songs of All Time". Here's a sample on YouTube from J Arista Records.

This totally revamped production uses all new state of the art computerized lighting and effects, said to have never been used before. Unfortunately, just before the Friday premier, a power surge caused damage to the system forcing the cancellation of the performance. Replacements and repairs were made and the system tested out by 2pm the next day. With everything up and running again, Barry added a second show at 10pm for the fans that had missed out the night before.

Barry's considerate nature doesn't stop there. He's also paying it forward to the Las Vegas community. Through his Manilow Fund for Health and Hope, he'll be donating proceeds of the Platinum Experience Tickets at Paris Las Vegas to the Manilow Music Project, that will provide instruments to Las Vegas area middle and high school students. This expands upon the nearly $100,000 raised for Clark County School music programs last August, from the Benefit Concert by Las Vegas Performers that donated their talents to the community.

The Music Project is only one of Barry's recent contributions to Las Vegas, and another touches so many across the world. The Lou Ruvo Cleveland Clinic brain institute for Alzheimer's research and treatment has opened in downtown Las Vegas' Symphony Park. It is supported by the local Keep Memory Alive Foundation, and most notably their annual Power of Love Gala. This year the event was held the week prior to Manilow's Paris opening and raised $27 million. Barry not only performed for the event without charge, he picked up the expenses of his orchestra, as reported here in more detail at Norm Clarke's Vegas Confidential.

So not only do we have so many talented artists performing here in 'The Entertainment Capital of the World', they are a part of our community. You never know where or when you might bump into any of them around the valley, just living their lives among us. Barry has been known to walk his labs in Sunset Park, that's pictured above.

Hi Steve! Ahh, so you are a fanilow...you're not alone! Sparky never makes promises for tix, but asking for a walk in Sunset Park is almost guaranteed! :)
