Here Comes the Judge...

Last night my wife (an attorney), held a fundraiser at our home for a friend of hers who is running for a local judge position.  We had a nice turnout, everyone enjoyed the food, and the candidate gave a nice speech.  I liked his slogan, too: "A blue-collar judge for a blue-collar city."

I spoke with quite a few guests, including the campaign manager.  I asked about her plans for the campaign, and it seems there will be three main avenues: holding fundraisers, going door-to-door in the community and creating a presence on the internet.  I found the last option to be particularly interesting.  Even though the total population of the judicial district is only about 60,000, the manager considered it very important to have a website and Facebook & MySpace pages.

I think she's smart.  If we use the internet to look up a local pizza joint, it makes sense we would view a website to check out someone running for judge.  And because we expect information to be on the internet, if it's not there, the very lack of it makes us unsettled.  Maybe- and it's a big maybe- we'd be willing to dig up our phone book or call information to find the pizza place, but the last thing anyone running for public office wants is to create suspicion or frustration for his or her constituents.

Political candidates, after all, are selling their message to the public.  As business professionals, we know that probably 90% of the battle is just making sure the target audience receives the message, let alone "gets" it.  If we don't take advantage of newer technology to make our advertisements available, we may as well concede defeat, whether it's an election or a sale.

That's why Obbee is so committed to the internet.  We believe very strongly in its power to generate quality, motivated sales leads for folks in the real estate, insurance, mortgage and debt & loan modification industries.  While other media is certainly valuable, our specialty is utilizing the Web to generate qualified leads in real-time.  When it comes to using the 'net to increase revenue for salespeople, we're happy to plead guilty as charged.  :)
