GeocachingLooking for something different to do in Blue Ridge? Try geocaching! Geocaching is a sort of high tech outdoor treasure hunt where you use a GPS in place of a treasure map. Now, you won't find a gold-filled treasure chest in the cache, but you will find fun and goodies hidden within each one. Plus, you will find the beauty and grandeur of the North Georgia mountains along the way!

The Fannin County Chamber of Commerce has hidden five geocaches in Blue Ridge. Simply enter the coordinates of each into your GPS, and you're off!

The Welcome Wow (N 34° 52.508’ W084° 17.950’) hint: you’re sure to feel welcome when you step in the doors. This is the place to start all your tours.

Outdoors, Onward and Upward (N 34° 51.836’ W084° 19.630’) hint: surrounded by all that you need in the woods, ask where the cache is and look for the goods.

If Art Had a Heart (N 34° 51.827’ W084° 19.622’) hint: up steps and through columns that's the hard part, ask the art people, that's where you start.

Ironic History in Copper Country (N 34° 59.265’ W084° 22.278’) hint: a big hunk of iron straddles the water, here take a pic, you know that you oughta. (historical discovery and pix opportunity only, no physical cache)

We Were Swingin’ (EASY) First, use our self-guided tour, Hiking Trail Access Points, available from the self guided tours button above, to get directions to the Swinging Bridge parking area. Then go to a GPS fix at (N 34° 44.211’ W084° 10.004). This is a virtual cache with a great view of a beautiful mountain river and the suspension bridge across it.

We Were Swingin’ Cache (MORE DIFFICULT) This is a challenging geocache and to find it you will have to be resourceful. First, use our self-guided tour, Hiking Trail Access Points, available from the self guided tours button above, to get directions to the Swinging Bridge parking area. Then go to a GPS fix at (N 34° 44.211’ W084° 10.004). Once at this point follow the Benton McKaye Trail up a strenuous climb to find the cache at ( N 34° 43.873’ W084° 10.183’).

You can also log on to geocaching.com and type in Blue Ridge's zip code (30513) for many, many more caches in the area.
