I just got this in the email yesterday!

This is the first Markanich grandchild.

I have actually known for a almost 2 weeks now, but they wanted to delay any public announcement until after a doctor visit and and official photo.  And heah 'tis...

Yesterday the first box of gifts went out - Redskin socks, 2 Redskin crawler suits (two different sizes), and Redskin hoodie.

Just wanted to get everything off on the right foot!

The little one in the photo is 9 weeks old now.  Due date is in early October.

AND, without my meddling, they decided NOT to know the gender prior to birth.  I am in total agreement with that.  We get too few surprises in life.  Why not enjoy this one!?

When this baby's mother was born, we went to the hospital with two names and no knowledge of gender.  I was there, of course, watching the mirror and totally blocked by the nurses when she was born.  They went about their business and I had to almost yell, "What is it, boy or girl?!"  Almost as an after thought, from a corner of the room, after the cord was cut (they didn't let me - she was the only one I didn't cut) and while they were cleaning her up, a nurse called out, "Girl!"

Gee, thanks...

Thanks Barbara!  That was just before the good years began.  So, I guess we could say that YOU began the good years.  Excellent job!

Jay Congratulations.  I'm headed to Denver today to spend a couple of days with my grandchildren.  It is one of the greatest feelings in the world and you don't know how much until it happens.

I hear that too Cindy.  Maybe during this second round we don't make all the same mistakes we made the first time!  Have a great trip!

Unfortunately Richard, they are 2000 miles away.  But I intend to have some great times.  Thanks!

Congratulations, I know how proud you must be.....I am with you on this, I don't understand why so many people want to know if it is a boy or girl.  What a wonderful moment it is when they are born to find out the sex of the child.

Congratulations. As a first Grandchild on both sides I know how great it is to be spoiled by grandparents. Sorry the poor kid has to wear Redskins attire though!

Gee, Ellie, I didn't know there was any other kind.  Gee, I think you need to get with the program...

This is one half of one half of my basement room.  I call it "Cuchihuasi," which is Quechua for Hog House.

I know you get it...

You mean, Nana, like the first time the baby wears the Redskin socks?  Or hoodie?  Or the first time the baby says, "Jurgensen?"  I think I get this!
