A sign of spring: peach blossoms in my garden in Cibolo, Texas

I got a new camera for Christmas, and it has made taking macro shots a lot easier. I can't make butterflies sit still, so I have to take 10 shots for every usable one (see the previous blog post), but things that don't move around too much are easy.

This winter was so cold in south Texas that many of our plants died, including several that we had just put in while xeriscaping part of our back yard--two days before the first freeze hit. So this week I was delighted to see that the little peach tree had survived and was putting on a great show of blossoms. Maybe we will even get peaches this year!

Hi Robin...luckily you were not in Northern, VA, with all the snow we had.  It wasn't extremely cold but I think we all had cabin fever.  I'm with you we need the flowers to bloom.

Robin, We had a rough winter also. It is amazing all the dead palm trees.  We have a dead bottle bush which I want to replace as I loved that bush!

We had snow here, too--a few gigantic flakes. The red buds aren't blooming yet, but a couple of our mountain laurels are. And our bottle brush tree has a few green leaves close to the ground, so I hope it will come back!

Thanks for stopping by!

If you're taking 10 shots for every usable one, you're doing darn good! That's a 10% success rate. I think our household takes about 50 shots for every usable one. I'm sure glad we don't have to pay film and developing costs anymore.

The fruit trees here are in the midst of perhaps the best blooming season I've seen in a long time. I think it had a lot to do with rain spread out over about ten weeks rather than getting everything dumped on us in just a couple of weeks.

The weather was crazy this year. But with all the rain we had this spring, the wild flowers, including bluebonnets, have put on the best display I've ever seen.
