Gary states this problem well.  We need to not only start a project, we need to stay on track and finish it.  How many agents do you know who have joined AR and then never return to submit any work??

Straight LineThe problem in today's world in getting things done other than procrastination in STARTING, is we need to stay on message, stay on focus.

Straight Line Thinking Improves Accomplishment.

Too often we start projects but don't complete them. We need to break them down into steps A, B, C, D. Today if we get from A to B, then when we resume the task go from B to C and so on and not start on another path.

Straight line or linear thinking, staying on one path till the destination GETS things done. Not to be confused with multi-tasking but highly focused in a line action that follows your priorities about what you want to get done.

Stay on the same road until something is done. Like your upcoming taxes. It may take a few weekends, but stay at it, all in the same path.

Hi Barbara,

I think "straight line" strategies are wonderful, especially for the absent minded individuals like myself.  I'm creative and start a project and then jump on another one, without finishing the 1st one.  Thanks for the reinforcement.!!!  Hope your weather is improving down in Mass.  the weather has blossomed here since Saturday...  ;>))

Barbara,

Gary sure gets things done, not just talks about it. For the last 10 years, or so, multitasking was promoted as next best thing.  But, all it gave us, was frustration and lack of focus.

My husband is definitely a straight line thinker and he gets things done all the time.  I guess I may need to change the way I think a bit.  Great info to reblog.  Thanks!

Good morning Barbara,

I know many who have joined but just haven't gotten in and gotten their feet wet. They are a lot of  the ones crying they can't make things happen! Go figure!!!
