Massachusetts Home Buyers - It's Time to Spring Forward

clockMassachusetts Home Buyers - It's Time to Spring Forward

It's that time again, and I love these helpful expressions that remind me of which direction I need to go in.

"Spring forward - fall back" says it all about how to proceed during daylight saving time.

It's like the expression from my favorite home inspector who tells me of how to turn a screw - "Lefty Loosy - Righty Tighty."   I would be lost without these words of wisdom.

So, this weekend, it is "spring forward" as millions of Americans turn their clocks ahead. The official time for doing so is March 14 at 2:00 a.m. but no one will report you if you wait until Sunday.

As a tidbit, the official time used to be the first Sunday in April to the last Sunday in October.  It was that way from 1986 to 2006.  In 2007 it was changed to be observed from the second Sunday in March to the first Sunday in November. That added around a month of delay to daylight saving time.

If that isn't fascinating enough, did you know that the only two states that do not take part in daylight saving time are Arizona and Hawaii?  Apparently, with their blistering summers, they have no need for any additional sunlight.

As far as the relationship between daylight saving time and Realtors® goes, many of us send post cards reminding people to turn their clocks forward or back on this significant weekend.  I am usually guilty of this practice myself.  However, this year I opted for more of a "spring" theme.

No matter. You don't need a Massachusetts Buyer Broker to tell you when to set your clocks forward.  But you do need someone to help you find a wonderful house at a great price - and for that advice, you can call me any time.

Glad for all the reminders I can get that Sunday will "really" be 5 a.m. and not 6!

Li:

We need to know whether we are going to be too late or too early...  Or, maybe just too tired from the lack of sleep.

That, Claudette, is the best line I've read all day!

You're good. You're really good.

Hi Claudette... I love Daylight Savings Time.  It stay light out later making it easier to show homes later too!  That's a productivity booster for sure.

Hi, Steve:

It is great to have the extra daylight - once you get over the initial sleep deprivation of losing that hour.

Claudette:  I'm happy to "lose" the hour of sleep to gain the extra hour of daylight.  I hate short days.  I can feel my mood improving already.

I am with you.  An hour more of sunlight is a vast improvement to the day.  I wonder who thought of it?  (A subject for another post.)

What a great title Claudette, so very clever. And a great post to go with your title.

Have a wonderful week and enjoy the extra hour of daylight we will be getting.

Hi, Terrie:

Thank so much.

So far, the loss of the hour has only served to confuse me but I am sure I will adjust in a day or so.  I wish you well with the new time setting.
