In
Kenner
LA we are on Central time. At 2
AM we will turn our clocks forward. Daylight saving times was started
during World War I in order to save energy for war production by taking
advantage of the later hours of daylight between April and
October. Between World War I and World War II and after,
states could decide if they want to observe Daylight savings time. In
1966, Congress pass a the Uniform Time Act which required and
standardized the length of Daylight Saving Time.
In the spring we spring forward and the fall we fall back. This phrase helps remember how Daylight Saving Time works.
It is also a good time to change batteries in smoke alarms. Fire Departments says working smoke alarms double a person's chances of surviving a fire.
