Silent Sunday, Periwinkle's Purple Petals Popping out in Sammamish
Vinca Minor, also known as Periwinkle is a ground cover blooming in my yard under some tall cedar trees. We've enjoyed a warmer than normal winter, with a brief sub freezing spell back in November. While much of the country has suffered a colder snowier than normal winter, they have this to look forward to.
Oh I'm so jealous. Can't wait for the tulips and trilliums to sprout. Did your wife take the photo for you again????
Love the cheerful little Periwinkles, miss seeing them in my gardens since I moved. Periwinkle is almost as much fun to say as Samammish!
Hi all, Thanks for the comments. Periwinkle is fun to say, especially alliterated with purple petals. Spring is definitely breaking out all over here. In a week or two I'll post a huge cherry tree we have, once it's in full bloom.

Hi Dan...We have periwinkle in our yard also. Years ago I had a small container that never got planted. It was next to our garage by the woods. Now it is running rampant in an area that had been pretty neglected and I love it. I'm sure if I had planted it there deliberately it probably would have died even though it is very hardy. I'm going to check tomorrow to see if any flowers are blooming.
