Olathe Kansas is Celebrating it's 150th Birthday with the Day Dreamin' in Dad's Cowboy Boots Sculpture

Day DreaminThis boot sculpture is provided by MidAmerica Nazarene University and is one of the twelve sculptures in celebration of Olathe Kansas 150th Birthday Celebration!

This sculpture illustrates a boy's imagination and his dad's cowboy boots.  The design provides a convergence to become a bronco bustin' cowboy. Young boys and girls growing up in the heart of America, Kansas gives way to the imagination of a backyard rodeo with your best and dearest friend, your dog!  Oh the life of a kid, lets bring back those days!

Now a little about the sponsor, MidAmerica Nazarene University.  Located at 2030 E. College Way in Olathe, Kansas, MidAmerica is located on a 105-acre campus.  Olathe is the county seat of Johnson County and because of its strategic location in the Greater Kansas City area, students and faculty have access to the cultural, recreational and employment advantages of this Kansas City metro area.

Cook CenterFounded in 1966, MidAmerica Nazarene University opened its doors to students in 1968 with an enrollment of 263. The University offers undergraduate academic majors in 39 areas, a degree-completion program in Management and Human Relations, a baccalaureate degree affiliation with European Nazarene Bible College in Germany, and graduate-level programs in education and business administration.

There are over 1,400 students and 385 faculty staff at MNU community.  Many of the most important "life questions" of faith, vocation and value are answered at the MNU university. What better place to explore these most important questions and begin to fashion appropriate answers than an excellent Christian liberal arts university committed to learning, serving and being. What better place to establish a foundation that will last a lifetime than MidAmerica Nazarene University.

Hi David,
The boots are very interesting.  Whenever cowboy boots are mentioned, I think of my older brother.  He had some cowboy boots as a little boy and my Mother tells stories about him sleeping in them, wearing them with shorts to the beach and the struggles she had with him when he outgrew them.  He would have nothing to do with a new pair.  Funny, what we remember.

David,

I'm the PR Director at MidAmerica Nazarene University, and I think maybe I should be looking over my shoulder! :-) Great article about an exciting time in Olathe as well as a wonderful endorsement of MNU. I couldn't have said it better myself. Thank you!

April, I'm most honored that you read and commented on the post!  I live less than a mile from MNU and pass by just about everyday!  Looks like MNU is making improvements on the east side with a new roadway!  You just keep growing!!  Thanks for reading and commenting!
