When I got up this morning, it was cold, dark and I had two miles to swim down at Culver. I made the drive half-heartedly, got out on the deck, shivered and faced down 50 yards of cold water.
I hesitated, like I always do, but in the end I jumped.
If you’re like me, I’m can be as motivated in the office as I can be standing on a pool deck in the dark and cold. The difference with a pool is that once you jump, you have to swim hard or you freeze. At work, I can find all sorts of things to keep me from what I need to do to make money. Meaning, I start my day pursuing non-revenue generating activities that I could either ignore altogether or outsource.
The problem is that non-revenue producing activities lead to more non-revenue producing activities and before I know it, my day is half over.
