How do you battle the doldrums

How do you battle the doldrums?  You know when you feel like if you're kicked again you just might not get back up?  Or when if one more piece of bad news comes your way you will go bury yourself in your room and cry?

This has been my week.  Son #1) Graduated from college and left today for his position in the United States Air Force, I have no idea when I will see him again.  Yes, I know the purpose of raising is kids is so that they will "LEAVE", but it doesn't make it any easier.

Son #3) in an attempt to be responsible and mow the grass, pushed a car out of the garage, a manual transmission, he then got out to move something, didn't put on the parking break - yes you guessed it--- the car rolled down the driveway and into the side of the neighbors Mustang.  Yes, I am thankful no one was playing in the street, that no car was driving down the street and that no one was hurt.

900 homes on the market, 11 went pending and 9 sold.  Nothing much to be positive about with those numbers.

My goal this week - be positive - be upbeat - be confident in my abilities, however, it's hard.  My goald this week, find one person I can help.

What about you - what is your secret to keep positive.

I always say to myself - could be worse!  I could be paralyzed from a horrible accident or something.

I like to listen to motivational speakers when I get down in the dumps.  There are plenty of them out there and it should be easy to find one you like.

Another thing I do is to treat myself to a little something special...  Fancy chocolates, bubble bath, therapeutic massage, or a pedicure.  I know, it sounds very materialistic, but it seems to take my mind off of things.

I have two nephews in the military.  One is in Iraq right now and the other is getting ready to be re-deployed to either Iraq or Afghanistan for his third tour of duty.  So far, so good.

You son will be in my thoughts...

Susan,

I like your point about wanting to find just one person to help! That says much about your make-up. I have a liking for heading to the gym when "stuff" happens. I turn it all off, go underground for awhile. Submarines are silent, and talk to no one...

Come and read my posts on staying positive and using the law of attraction. Watch the movie, The Secret. I always rewatch it when things go down. I will pray for your son. Work on your dream board. Write in your journal. Pray! Katerina

Patti  - a nice treat... I do have a gift certificate for a day at a spa, sounds like a great idea to dust that off and USE it.  I got it for Christmas, can't believe I haven't used it already.  I will keep your nephews in my thoughts.  I can not tell you the relief I feel that my son will be State side, ok that is one more thing to be thankful for.  He'll be stationed in Albuquerque.

Patrick:  the "GYM"  eeeewwww... I'm not much of a "gym" girl.  It's a thought, perhaps a walk.

Katerina: I will read your posts on staying positive.  I haven't seen "The Secret" yet, but hope to next week.  I've heard quite abit about it.

I always try to stay on an even keel.  When things are good, I remind myself that they aren't always that way.  When not so good...I remind myself of how much better it has and will again be!

Susan, our lives move in the direction of our thoughts, and our thoughts are created by our feelings.  The past 30 days for me could be described as the doldrums, even though I have much to be thankful for.  I realized that I wasn't doing my best and so I was feeling down and thus my thoughts became negative.

I like the old phrase, "Don't let your altitude dicate your attitude."

I had that SAME kind of day on Friday the 13th.  Nothing could possibly go right and I was at my wits end.  Finally, I went to write a blog about it and my computer froze after I had spent 20 minutes writing it.  I figured that was my cue to go home, lock the doors, turn off the lights, and go to bed!!!

Robert: I know eventually you come out of the ups and downs.  Staying even keeled is harder than it looks.

Todd & Danielle:  We are very lucky no one got help, not happy that insurance will charge us a point, no matter the age of the culprit.

Kaushik: Point well taken, it is so easy to not remember the good times when things are bad.

Todd: perhaps you are right, if I'm not doing all I can do, then why shouldn't I been down on myself.  I expect better from myself.

Angie: I'm sorry you had a bad Friday the 13th, good thing those don't come very often.  I hope things are better now.
