I noticed it right away on the home page of ActiveRain this morning when I signed on.

What I also found interesting once clicking on it, was to read the "fine print" sort-to-speak.  "The referral exchange is provided to ActiveRain members as a free service at this time.  At a later date the service will include a flat monthly subscription fee."  So this must be the first of the "paying type" of services ActiveRain will be offering.  People wanted to know how they were making money, looks like this is the first step.

I am curious what are everyones thoughts on this?  Will you be signing up to pay for this service?  Or will you continue to do things as you have in the past, and search the ActiveRain profiles for free?

*NOTE:  Here's a post of a press release on the ActiveRain blog that was just posted this morning about this.

Hi Becky, I thought this was really cool!  I will wait to see how it goes as to whether or not I will pay for it.  Sounds like there are some changes in the air at AR...possibly.  Change is good sometimes.

I saw it too and I was just reading about it.  Sounds interesting.  We shall see how it works out.

Well.... another payment for the hope of business is not something I would pursue quickly.

I'm pretty cheap so I'll probably search for free

As this appears to be an optional feature of A/R, I have no problem with it. It must cost to run this site so it's fine with me for them to source income to support it as long as the currenly free items continue to be free.

Stephanie, I'm sure this is just one of many things they have in the works.

Al, you're welcome.

Steve, does sound interesting, but will wait to see what that fee is going to be.

Dan, kinda my thoughts exactly.

Joe, don't worry.  I think many people will choose not to pay for it.

Wayne, I agree.  As long as they leave what is currently free, free.  Then more power to them to add other options people can pay for.

It is a nice feature but all my referrals must go through the relocation department of my broker.

So if you sign uo now do you pay later or can you cancel? I think this is pretty cool though. Where else do you think you can get good referrals from?

James, there are a lot of people that also must do that, so this won't be an option for them.

Jeannette, I'm not sure.  Just says it's free now, but will have a flat monthly subscription fee later.

Becky, I hadn't noticed the button.  Thanks for bringing it to our attention.  We'll have to see how this feature works out.  I don't want to prejudge it.  The devil is in the details!

I hadn't noticed that Becky, thanks for pointing it out. It's not a service I need or would use BUT I may pay just to support AR. I've been using this site for free for over a year and have made $10,000s from it. So giving something back so they can continue to grow appeals to me.

Brian, you're welcome.  I guess we'll just have to watch it to see what happens.

Bryant, and some people want to know why you are so well liked?  Tell them to come here and read your comment!

Nope , not going to do it, but it sounds neat.  I am just not into jumping into something like this without seeing if it is going to bring in the dough first.

Well Pam, all these $20 here and $20 there, cost of things do add up and before you know it, you've spent a lot of money that month.  Free is always better!
