I'm on a rant!

I've been on the Do Not Call list since July 20th 2004. I know this because I went onto : http://www.coloradonocall.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=Public.Main and tried to re-enter my phone number. I got the error message:  I'm already on the list.

So if you are a telemarketer, salesman or a "friend of a friend" do not call me.

And guess what? I keep your phone number and name and register you on this same site. There is suppose to be a fine involved, but who really knows if anybody follows up on these things. But do you want to take the chance?

Please do not call me because you found me on Active Rain and you want to get my name higher on google. You just contradicted yourself! If you found me I must be plenty high on google. If you sponsored a recent event and "met" my online contacts do not call me. Obviously you found me via these contacts and I don't need your help.

Sing it, Sister!  I am SO tired of people who ignore the Do Not Call list and call me because they found me on Active Rain and want to sell me something to make me easier to find.  The internal inconsistency of that drives me bonkers!  Plus, of course, the not checking the Do Not Call list to see if they should not call me because my number is on there.

And, yep, it's really easy to turn them in, and I do so - on land line or cell - whenever I get one of those calls. 

Now, if we could just get the law changed so that political calls couldn't go to the registered numbers, either!  After all, they're selling something, too.

I really don't like being mean, but I also don't like them calling up pretending to be my friend. The "hi, did you go to the Active Rain Camp last week?" got the door open but if they were really a sponsor they probably know I wasn't there. Or better yet, the "hi Tricia Junomville said...." no you didn't, I know better. Geez!
