Devils Den Gettysburg National Military Park

No it is not the moon, although it could be a set of some startrek episode. You know the original, something folks in my age group (that would be old) remembers. Devils Den was held by both the Union and Confederate armies during the 3 day battle of Gettysburg on July 1st, 2nd, & 3rd of 1863. Eventually the Devils Den area came into solid Confederate control and was used extensivley by Confederate sharpshooters. From the protection and prime vantage point the boulders provided, Confederate sharpshooters had a field day harrassing Union troops on Little Round Top.

The picture below is a famous picture taken by Civil War photographers Alexander Gardner and Timothy O'Sullivan. The photographers found the body and moved it to where they photographed it. The entire photo was staged, however the image is still haunting.

I didn't think Star Trek, I thought Lost In Space.  LOL!  The picture of the dead soldier gave me goose bumps, especially since you have the picture of the area today.
