I have absolutely no fashion sense. When I became a real estate agent, I knew my appearance would be a challenge. It is a professional, optics driven business. While I have the professional part down pat, the optics part is more of an issue. I prefer comfort over discomfort, fleece over non-fleece and sweat pants over anything else. I also do not have a great eye in terms of what goes together so I usually just keep things monotone - black pants, black top, black jacket and black shoes - often it looks like I am going to a funeral or to a Johnny Cash tribute concert.
My fashion life has been revived with the arrival of a new clothing store in my ‘hood. It is called flok and is run by an amazing lady by the name of Nisia Mancini. Nisia has a great eye for fashion and has stocked her boutique with a nice mix of styles to suit different ages and figure types. She also supports local designers and so you can be assured that when you wear something from her store to an event, you won't see 6 other gals in the same outfit. The purses and scarves are to die for and everything is very reasonably priced. It is hard to find too many items over $100. Most are in the $40 to $80 range.
Lately, with Nisia's help, I have been venturing out wearing outfits that have some shape and colour to them. And it is not unusual for me to be stopped on the street by ladies asking where I got my purse. I am happy to promote her store because I love it....and it supports a local business who in turn supports local designers. And all of that is a great thing!
