PPC Bargain Shopping

If a web site is part of your personal promotion, sooner or later you should plan a monthly budget for Google "Pay-Per-Click" advertising (aka Google Adwords or PPC).  When that day comes you will face decisions of how much you're willing to spend to acquire one visitor.

In Seattle Metro areas like Bellevue, Tacoma, Everett, Gig Harbor, etc., the price commonly exceeds $3.50 per click.  Last night through this morning was one of those rare magic periods when the allocated budgets of high bidding real estate advertisers (nationwide) was depleted and the cost dropped to about $2 per click.  This only happens a few times each month and only lasts a few hours when it happens.

A trick to master is controlling your budget, especially when your monthly PPC spend is comparatively low ... less than $350.  (Yes ... this is pennies compared to what some agents spend)  If you fall to the temptation of bidding too high, your budget will be consumed in very little time.  Don't worry ... Google has their PPC program down to a pretty exact science.  What ever your budget, you can be confident that Google will deliver the traffic that you agree to purchase.

After setting your budget, try to make it stretch the entire month.  It was the advertisers with tight budget control that benefited from this morning's bargain prices.  At this moment, most high budget advertisers around the country have already checked and found their balance depleted and they've already purchased more ads ... raising the bar of what it cost to advertise online.

Hello Larry.....

My question is, do you find PPC cost effective?

What were your monthly expenses, and how many leads went to contract?
