March 20....Governor Declared... Meatless DAY in Michigan

Salivate as you view these photos of mankind's favorite types of food:
Healthy? few care, except for the "FP [food police"
Filling? absolutely.
Crosses all ages ? you betcha'
Available? pretty much found 24 / 7
...Unless you choose to follow the Governor of Michigan this coming Saturday:

She has declared this coming Saturday as a Meat-less Day;
...eat only Fruits, Veggies, & whole grains
...abstain from Meat for this day
...become healthier...live longer...look better ????

In so doing, TICK OFF Substantially each & every Michigan Farmer, Processor, Restaurant owner,  & all the related splinter businesses in the state.

This, by far, surpasses her earlier "Hug your Mailbox Day" of the past Fall.
This time many of the folks are astounded at her naivete or her total non comprehension of the possible impact on a large sector of our State residents & business owners [many of whom are in the Small B.Sector]
If you are not a meat eater [& I am not a Red Meat eater due to medical reasons]
If you are not interested in feeding meat to your family for whatever reason
If you are not a Red Meat or White [Pork] Meat eater due to cultural / religious beliefs
If you are not an eater of anything that has feet, wings, or gills by Your decision

Then, all is well in your & my personal choices

It crosses the line when an elected Official of any state feels the right to dictate such a "Personal" choice and formally presents such on the airways & print [ releases] venues.

From what planet do some of our elected Officials originate?
This could be funny; but not so much anymore as these types of releases, formal statements & potential laws are the main dish on our daily 'menu for living'

Will end now, as a "remote server at upstream...active rain" has been proxying me all over the Net;
Either the Leprechauns have taken over the site; OR Way Too much Green Bubbly is being swallowed in the Rain LOL

As a vegetarian for over 30 years I can understand her zeal in wanting to get the message out about the overconsumption of meat and its effects on health. That said, I NEVER try to push my food choices on anyone. I will INFORM them if they ask but it is a choice I made in order to improve my overall health (which, by the way, is reflected in my numbers-triglycerides, HDL and LDL) For the record, I am married to a carnivore and am told I make a darn good Chicken Marsala!

I do agree with you that as an elected official she has crossed the line. A lot of information is out there and folks need to educate themselves but not have it come from the top. Choices abound and that's what's great about this country!

Jennifer....say hi to your carnivore from Sal; He too loves meat,even though we mainly eat Fish dishes, nothing Fried only oven roasted. Tonight however, I made grilles [George Foreman grill],
burgers for him & skinless chicken breast for me. We, too get along just fine.
Our Governor does not 'get it'  with these kinds of pronouncements 7 our Legislature has asked her to publicly rescind--??? On the lighter side,I did hear that our Congressional Rep. Pete Hoekstra has declared 20 March as grill-out day.  Let the battles begin & all keep their sense of humor.
Thanks for stopping by--have a good rest of the week.
