Where Do You Want to Live?

A new report from Money Magazine on the Best Places to Live in the U.S.. spots  California  with three big cities on the top 10 list of best places to live.  Los Angeles is number 4 in the large U. S. city category. No surprise.. Manhattan Beach shows up as # 13 on the pricey homes list while Palos Verdes Estates slips in at # 10. What's nifty about this site is that there' s a place for consumers to also rate the top ten cities. In the consumer rankings San Diego gets the top spot and LA comes in at # 9.

So who cares about this poll.. well you should if you are thinking about buying or selling real estate in the South Bay/ Beach Cities of Southern California. For one thing CA has nabbed three of the top ten city spots. This is one of the reasons prices on CA real estate continue to be higher then other areas. On the most expensive homes list 15 of the 25 listed are in CA. Looking for clean air.. California has 7 of the top spots. Cities with the highest income... California has 6 cities on the list.

Think about it.. this poll was taken comparing cities all over the United States. You may moan and groan about real estate home prices in the South Bay/ Beach Cities but there is a reason they are higher then other places. We know when they talk about Los Angeles they don't mean downtown LA but are referring to the LA area. That's us folks.. coastal LA living at its best.

Now does this mean we will see prices in Manhattan, Hermosa, Redondo or El Segundo shooting up soon... nope not a chance. But it does mean they may stay fairly stable and not slip much which is a very good thing whether you are buying or selling a home in the Beach Cities. If you are selling you will still see a reasonable price not an increased price .. If you are buying the good news is that prices should remain pretty neutral which means home prices will be fairly stable over the next few years. Now this isn't to say prices won't fluctuate.. they will... but hopefully on a more modest basis then in other parts of the state or the country.

That was a fun link to follow. I did my selecting and submitted it. Though San Diego is nice, it has had bad politics the last few years. It also suffers from to much of the " I told you so"  bull. It is an easy place to live but I prefer Newport or Laguna area personally. I was going to move there when I first came to California form Dallas. What a mistake not doing so. Once you build a clientele, who wants to start over? It isn't like suffering or anything living here, it is more of a preference not to. A feel good preference. Good post for your clients to read. Prices going up ? NOT A CHANCE. Gota love it.

Always,
William

William-Glad you got to play with the site a little.. it's fun punching in a town and seeing what pops up.. It's also nice to see a site that doesn't slam CA. for a change.. When I was a kid we wanted our Dad to buy a home at the beach.. but no he didn't understand why we would want to live by the water... then they moved to Hawaii and he got it.. He loved Hawaii and was so glad Mom decided they were moving..

Hey Kaye,

Great info on this one, especially for anyone thinking of moving to So Cal. It's easy to see why you're the top Realtor in the South Bay. IMHO, Southern California has some of the most beaufiul coastline in the country. San Diego is one of my favorite places to visit and enjoy the outdoors.
