Why landscape if nobody can see it - Viewpoint of a MasterG

Curb appeal is a big plus when selling your home.  However, there has been little said about the back of the home.  When you see a vacant piece of dirt in the backyard - you are missing the possibilities.

Enter the Master Gardener.  Here in Georgia we have all at one time or another run into a MasterG.  I have one right across the street from me and I am learning things I never knew I never knew!  I once had a dirt clod under my deck stairs - today I have a thing of not just beauty but JOY!  Thank you Beverly H. my personal MasterG.

Moral of the story - if you are thinking of placing your home on the market - sometime soon - or you know for fact you will have to move some day in the future - do yourself a favor: Create your own Secret Garden.  It will give you joy beyond your wildest imaginings; and that piece of dirt you call your backyard will actually beckon you to come, sit, and enjoy.

I did and I have found that I will be spending more time there - the upside to an already fantastic venture: I have increased the "backyard appeal" for my future buyer!

P.S.  Even if you plan on living there the rest of your born days - you will still have the elation and sense of accomplishment that goes beyond words.

So much is written about what to do in order to increase the appeal of a home for resale... even by those that aren't selling any time soon, and yet why should we do all of the cool and nice things for those that come later?  Why not make a personally enjoyable space for ourselves... now?

Great post.

Jeannette, in my case, you're preaching to the choir! Only I'm doing my garden for ME, not because I plan to sell anytime soon.

It's amazing to see how much a garden can change over 2-3 years time, so it's a great idea to start as soon as possible.
