If you are relocating to the Northern Virginia suburbs of Washington DCDunn Loring Village, Vienna VA ....you should consider Vienna Virginia....a place you've never heard of...yes it is one of those best kept secrets. Located just 15 miles outside Washington DC on Metro's Orange Line, Vienna still has a small town feel without the center-less, soul-less mass tract home funk.

Straddling Tysons Corner (the biggest shopping area in the state and the 12th largest business district in the US) you could go out to eat every night for six months and not hit the same place twice.

Walk to Dunn Loring metro from this town houseVienna was ranked #4 best place to live by Money Magazine in 2005 partly because of the never ending job opportunities abounding in and around our area. Located in the second highest median family income county in the country (Fairfax) and just 12 miles from the Route 28/ Dulles Airport high tech corridor, you could change jobs every day for the rest of your mortal existence and still not scratch the surface.

I lived in DC  for 11 years and at times, worked in Vienna. I moved back to Texas in 2003. I really like the area and would move back in a heart beat! Best of Luck to you!!

Steve,

First, I love the sunshine in each of these pictures.  Yes, the sun shines here, but not as often as your area.

Second,  I'd love to visit

Third,  I like my country road so much that I won't move, but I would be glad to send referrals to you.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Steve, now that is an outstanding local post. This is as information rich as one could wish. Great photo illustrations too. Mary has fond memories of the area. Perhaps I'll be lucky enough to see for myself. Best to you and Jan.

Thanks Frank I think I will use this type of blog post for a while....basically keeping the relo info underneath since it applies to our whole area...then writing a neighborhood post on top. The light was great that day for photos!
