On March 17, 2010 HB4867 was introduced being titled "Corolla Wild Horse Protection Act". It has been referred to the House committee on Natural Resources. It has a long way to travel before becoming a law but the introduction of this bill is monumental for the horses. The bill will will change the allowable heard size to a number not yet determined as they are waiting for a formal written recommendation from Dr. Cothran as to a target population range.
This is thanks to the efforts of Congressman Walter B. Jones. Congressman Jones has taken action to ensure that the wild horses of the Currituck Outer Banks will remain here for generations to come.
