How to promote real estate

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Real Living GreatWest

Marketing and promotions are very important to be successful in the real estate business. There are so many ways to promote your business. All you need to do is to find the one way that fits your budget and you’re set. In this day and age there is so much you can do to get yourself as well as your business noticed. There’s the internet, there’s social networking sites, there’s advertising… The list is endless. You just have to figure out where your niche market is and advertize and market yourself in a way that will appeal with that demographic.

Answering questions on a public message board is a good way to let people know about what is out there in terms of real estate. Include full information about you and a link to your website with your comment on every website you visit. Sponsoring events that have to do with real estate is also another great way to get exposure. You can join your local chamber of commerce as well to help with promotion.

News releases or articles written by you submitted to local publications are also a good way to get publicity. It helps conceal your professional presence while maintaining a level of proficiency with free press. It also looks great on your profile if you are successfully published as it will make you more respected within the community as well as with new clients.

Advertising is the key to marketing yourself well. In this age where you can have advertisements just about anywhere, you have to take full advantage of that. Take out eye catching ads that help promote you as a professional. Taking out ads next to what people associate with success is a good idea to get attention, such as next to large homes or big cars. People will stand up and notice.

Any sort of promotion takes time. You cannot expect instantaneous results. Give yourself two weeks to promote a new idea or a function or a news release in order to capitalize on its success. If you rush into something without thinking it through, you won’t see the results as you would have liked. So think carefully about how you are going to market yourself and make your strategies accordingly. For example, you cannot put a very philosophical ad of sorts in an area where the demographic is more of baby boomer. You have to be logical in your marketing just as you would in any other business. Spend time writing different kinds of ad copies that will make your ads stand out from other real estate agents. Being different is part of being eye-catching and attracting new business.
