This wonderfully updated home in Overland Park, KS almost had too much of a good thing - lengthy SPACE!  The front room was one long open area.  There was no designated space for dining so buyers really didn't know how the floorplan was supposed to work. The investor/realtor, contacted Z'Touch Staging to show buyers how the room could work.

I tried a few new ideas on this project.  I found a 36"x36" chunk of carpet that looked like a peice of art.  I mounted it on plywood and trimmed it with large baseboard trim.  I also took a plain luan door and made a "leaning lamp" out of it.  I stained diamond shapes on the door then mounted a swing arm lamp to it.  It defined the dining area in this long room.

Leanne, very clever solutions and I love your color choices!  The harlequin diamond pattern on the luan with the lighting is awesome.  Great job.

Leanne,

Great staging!  Your really defined this long and narrow room by creating the individual spaces within the home.  Like Ginger, I love how you got so creative with the luan...BRAVO!

Thanks for the positive comments everyone.  I was very happy with the way may "leaning lamp" turned out.  I thought about using a narrower door and making 2 of them to use behind my bedside tables.  I would lower the lamp and hang a picture above it.  It would give me more room on the table to hold all my books that are piled there for night time reading.

Kathy - Thanks for the feature!

Nice way to divide the space....without staging it would be challenging for any buyer to try to "see" how this long space could be used to its fullest.  You did a GREAT job!!!

Oh my goodness... are you the clever one!  How cool is that? My question is... for all that work you did on the lamp. will you use this again?  Looks like you have some 2010 red going on there girl. Very fun! You never know, the new buyers may want to buy it ;)

Very clever way to define the dining area with the leaning wall.  Would that same thing work for a headboard if you used a narrow door and mounted it above the bed?  Hummm, your work is great!

Thanks for sharing!

HI Kathy, very clever indeed!  You are one imaginative stager when it comes to defining use of space where none exist. Your clients were lucky to have found you to stage their property. Let us know when it sells.

The compliments mean a lot coming from fellow stagers who's work I admire!

The house has not closed yet but went under contract in 30 days.  He had it on the market for about 45 days and realized it might be a lot longer if he didn't show people how to use the front room.

I have decided to use the "leaning lamp" at home once I destage.  I have a small corner that has a chair but no room for a table.  I will put it behind the chair and bring in some necessary light.  I might need to change the shade though.
