There were 5 REO closings this week. According to out Kauai MLS there are 17 REOs still in escrow. However as the REO inventory is dwindling the short sale inventory is picking up. Our MLS has 27 short sale properties in escrow. Although the short sale process can be long and frustrating it is becoming the norm. A short sale can stall a foreclosure proceeding and more sellers and banks are agreeing to do undertake this process. However after months of waiting for a response from an overburdened short sale negotiator, buyers often drop out. It is a process for those who have patience.  Next week’s blog will be on the 1st.
