Well said!
Thank you for standing pat as a Christian. I have seen a great number of objections from many so-called right wing
"Christians" who forgot about the teachings of Christ. Calvinism will do that to you...or rather it will justify selfishness.

PHOOEY... PHOOEY... PHOOEY....
Linda Mae - I know of nowhere where God indicated that he wanted the government to confiscate money for health care. There are plenty of references to individual mandates, to offer our help to those with less, but certainly nothing to say "rob Peter to pay Paul". In this case, the people did not win. Obama, Pelosi and a few far left won. The people have made it clear that they wanted health care reform, but absolutely not what either the house or the senate were proposing. So, go ahead and keep winking in your smugness, but don't attribute it to God. But then again, you may be right. There is definitely historical records that God punishes those that stray from His path and place false idols above him.
Linda - There are many positive points in this bill, but why is there a Mandate for participation? If Congress had the power (as they just exhibited) to pass a law that would have all the benefits you posted above - No Pre-Existing Condition Denial, No Maximum Payout, etc. why did they need to include penalties (both monetary, and punitive) against people who do not wish to participate?
Many individuals simply make a value decision that they cannot afford health insurance, and they choose to self insure, or they would prefer simple catastrophic circumstance insurance if it were available. What will change for them other than the government will consider them to be law breakers if they continue to make that choice? The only persons who are exempt have a poverty line income or less, but what about the working poor? They do not have any extra income to spend on health care now, but they will no longer have the choice.
NO BILL REQUIRING MORE PAGES THAN THE BIBLE SHOULD EVER BE VOTED ON BY CONGRESS (LET ALONE PASSED)! How much political pork is really hidden in these 1000's of pages?
We could have done better, and we certainly deserve better. This bill is a travesty.
And we won't be asked if we voted to confiscate other people's money to give that help!
Maybe you know the Bible better than me, but I don't recall anywhere in the scriptures where Jesus said that one group of peoiple should sieze money from others in order to give it away... That isn't generosity, that is theft.
Will your answer be: I did not need to help any individual because my government took over that "right" on my behalf.
I can only take responsibility for my own actions, and I prefer teaching a man how to fish rather than giving him a fish. I think our founding father's view (the ones who were not afraid to state In God We Trust) resembles this more than the government control currently being promoted.
It looks like the fun has begun -
12 States File Lawsuits Against Mandatory Insurance
From about 6 paragraphs in -
"Twelve state attorneys general, all of whom are Republican, have already filed suits to block the health care bill on the grounds that its requirement that everyone have health insurance is unconstitutional. Four state legislatures have already passed laws blocking the bill."
And phooey on those that are perfectly willing to ignore the Constitution in order to pass an agenda. At that point, we cease to be a Republic and become a nation of whim.
VA was the FIRST state to pass legislation outlawing the health care mandate and SECOND state to file suit!!!
