Weekly real estate market update Iowa City: Homes Sold, Under Contract & Active Listings

real estate market update Iowa City March 22, 2010

611 Active Listings
144 Homes Under Contract
5 Homes Sold March 15 - March 20
8.4 Absorption Rate (Number of months it takes the market to "absorb" homes).

The number of homes under contract is 19% of the current inventory, which is quite an impressive number. (This is one of those times the pie chart works great in helping us visualize the data). Once the homes under contract start closing in bigger numbers we're likely to see a difference in the absorption rate.

As you can tell, lots of buyer activity in Iowa City with buyers wanting to take advantage of the homebuyer tax credit before the deadline of April 30 for an accepted offer. Watch this space. We have some interesting months ahead!

Thanks Guys ~ I agree, it's good to learn about the different markets. If we listened to the media we'd think it was doom and gloom everywhere. As it is, all markets are different and AR is a great place to figure that out.

Thanks for stopping by.
