One of the things that make Lansdale, Pa. a great place to live is the depth of its history.
The Lansdale area began it's growth in the 1850's, with the coming of the Pennsylvania Railroad. Its size increased to the point that the Federal government, in 1860, decided to make it a post office village. Twelve years later, on August 24, 1872, the area was incorporated as Lansdale Borough.
Today, Lansdale Borough is home to approximately 16,500 residents, living in 2.96 square miles or 1,894.4 acres of land.
One of the many architectural gems we have is the Lansdale Train Station. Now owned and operated by SEPTA (Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority), it offers convenient train service to and from center city Philadelphia.
The train station was designed by Lewis Hickman in 1900, and was completed in 1902. When it opened, promotional literature hailed the station as "the finest on the North Penn line between Wayne and Bethlehem."
So, hop on the train and come visit Lansdale and all it has to offer, from its fine shops and restaurants to its new Performing Arts Center! From history to modern convenience, this town in the heart of Central Montgomery County is a wonderful place to call home.
