Michigan has projects slated for Spring-start-ups:
This is a Good thing for any State, but particularly good for Michigan;
Better for Michigan IF this brings about permanent new jobs.

In order of the Title:
Wind Turbines for the two Great lakes of Lake St. Clair & Lake Erie; it is proposed that 700 such 40 story one-legged  Silver-White fixed-winged creatures can now proceed forward for permits as the province of Ontario ended its 2-year moratorium on wind farms in the lakes.
Meetings to deal with public concerns on the Canadian side will be on March 27th; at this point these are strictly for the Canadian residents in hopes of retirement of coal plants.
Impact studies on boaters, fish, & migrating birds are yet to be determined. The question remains: What impact will these Canadian turbines have on Michigan's pros & cons on our wind turbines. Time will tell.
Keep tuned.

It is Orange Barrel time for Michiganians:
though most of us do not like driving through these construction zones, it is a good sign for us that we HAVE these projects.  Our infrastructure is faulty and need to be repaired; it just would be great if we could actually fix roads that STAY fixed; but that is another problem for another day.
Roads impacted NOW
..14 mile from Red Run Drain bridge to Van Dyke---closed to through traffic [actually with Bridge repairs, perhaps avoiding the area altogether would be best--unless, of course, you are a golfer at Maple Lane]
...M-59 Ryan Rd. to Crooks from now to November-SLOW, slow, Slow traffic
...Schoenherr--intersection & /or signal up-dates from 9 mile rd. to 15 Mile--completed August

April starts:
...14 Mi Rd--resurface from Mound to Van Dyke completion June 30
...15 mi rd--resurfacing from Van Dyke to Maple Lane completion June 30
...M-53--east side sound wall from 18 mi. rd to Utica Rd completion July 1
...M-59 / Hall Rd--major repair & widening project from M-53 to I-94; phases that will end in September
   #1 Schoenherr to Van Dyke on April 15th, [other sections move East to I-94; Keep ears & eyes open
Summer work:
...Mound Road from 18 Mile rd to M-59 [bothersome, but think ahead to smooth sailing, oops, driving]

From the Great lakes Turbines to Midtown Detroit;

This is the home of the Detroit Medical Center, Wayne State University & the New Center--btw Lodge & I-75
The latest good news is that Vanguard Health Systems--Tennessee, has announced that it will invest $850M in the DMC.
The investment in building at the center will possibly bring abut 5,000 construction jobs for the next few years.  How many permanent jobs at the New Facilities will depend upon the volume of business the hospital will generate; also any splinter jobs will depend upon the needs in restaurants, retail & commercial enterprises; surely those businesses already in the area should see an increase during the building process. It will be a great improvement to the DMC area with $500 M. going toward:
...a new Children's Hospital tower
...New Patient units at Receiving Hospital
...Doubling of the Sinai-Grace emergency room
...A major renovation of operating room space at Harper."
...New physician office buildings at Harper, Sinai-Grace.
the  remaining $350 M going for repairs and capital and equipment needs at the DMC.
Looking very good,at this typing. to read the full story see: www.freep.com / Sunday 21 March/ Cover Story

I read about a study being done for a series of wind turbines on Lake Ontario just east of Toronto...

I will keep tuned in on Michigan's progress.

Chris...could be so as according to the paper Ontario has lifted their moratorium on any; unfortunately, we here in Michigan are somewhat bogged down on other items.  I too will watch this with interest; we here also have natural gas that is another bone-of-contention. Personally, I suggested that wind turbines be 'planted'  on the grass areas that separate our major highways--works for me & who would hear the noise over the traffic???
Thanks for stopping by. Have a great week
