Need Some Local Blog Post Ideas? Then Check This Out!

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Zillow

In all of the agent training events we've been doing lately, learning how to embed a local info graph on blog posts has been something agents have gotten really excited about.  Because who can't use some ideas for blog posts, especially hyper local ideas?

Below is a quick video with how it works.  But basically, if you go to the Local Info tab of Zillow, you'll find tons of data about home values, demographics, etc for various neighborhoods.  In the Home Values section, we aggregate all the data we have for the desired area, and turn it into a graph.  There are a number of different graphs to chose from - blog posts for weeks!  Then all you have to do is grab the embed code for the graph and insert it into a post.  Then of course, you should include your expert commentary or interpretation of the numbers.

Here is an example of what home values are doing in my neighborhood (I live in the orange line, we were a little late to the depreciation party).  You can see the type of graph that is easily created with a click of a mouse.

Went to look - but Zillow insists on calling Gold Canyon - Gold Camp -- so using the chart would make it seem we can't even get the city right -- wish you guys would be able to change the info to Gold Canyon , which is what the area has been called for years and years. But thanks for the info -- perhaps for some other areas it will be great. All the best.

Looks like a great tool, and I definitely plan on using it.  It looks like a great way to "take" information and look like the area expert!  Thanks!

I was in a workshop several weeks ago. We had to register with Zillow in class. Someone said prices didn't always match MLS data. We were told you to claim our listings and go to the bottom of the page and click on a link to make adjustments that would bring the values closer. I haven't had a chance to do so, yet, but I am looking forward to exploring Zillow.

Bob and Carolin (#37) I will have someone take a look at that.  I think we can get that change done for you.

Linda (#49) Hmm, this doesn't sound totally right.  A lot of the listing data does come from the MLS (via Listhub or Point2) or from the Broker.  We do use other sources as well.  But all send the name of the company representing the home.  If you want your profile to be attached to your listing, you need to create an account and register on Zillow.  As long as you register using the same email address as the data provider, you don't have to claim anything.

Hey Chris - I used ScreenR. I love this service. It is free and allows you take a video of what you are seeing on your screen for up to 5 minutes.

:(  Bummer, I cannot get the data to work.  I select a 1-year period and the screen just locks up and will not load the data.

What I was trying to do is embed some code for the city of Kennewick that would give visitors a view of the past year's home sales data, however, the "working" icon (or wheel) kinda never finishes!
