Points, points. Gotta get Active Rain points!

Original content by Bob Stewart

Last summer I did a contest where our members could write 7 blog posts in 7 days and get 1000 points for every post they wrote. I'm sure many of you reading were able to take advantage of that contest then. Well guess what......

It's back!

(although this time I'm going to give you 14 days to write 7 posts)

Hyper Local blog posts are a great way to create content that's desired by your next potential client. We ran a brokerage prior to starting ActiveRain and one of the things we discovered was that the closer a person was to making a purchase decision, the more granular their searches on the search engines became.

We found that clients who registered on our website, and ended up buying a home with one of our agents, acted twice as fast if they used a neighborhood name in their search query. I'll give you an example. Someone could go to Google and search: homes for sale in Seattle.
Or, they could go to Google and search: homes for sale in Queen Anne Seattle. You see, Queen Anne is a neighborhood in Seattle. The person who searched using the neighborhood term, was much closer to making a purchase decision than the one who only used a city term.

Not to mention, the competition for search terms is less competitive the more granular you get. What's the logical next step? How can you get more granular than a neighborhood? What about a specific sub-division or a specific condo complex? Somebody who is searching for information about a specific sub-division or condo complex is going to be even closer to buying than someone looking in a neighborhood......and the competition to rank for those terms is less competitive.

(granted, the search volume is less, the more granular you get as well..............but would you rather have 100 leads and close three, or get five contacts and close three? The answer is obvious to me)

The Contest

Write 7 Hyper Local posts about your market. The post must be written AFTER my post. Meaning you can't just dig up an old post.

The post must be a minimum of 300 words. I'm not going to count but consumers want good information and you need to be able to explain the essence of the community, condo building, sub-division, etc.....it should be somewhere close to that length.

You need to READ BRAD's POST. You need to study the post. You need to implement his suggestions. He gives some SUPER HELPFUL pointers that I would like you to adopt in your post. The purpose of this is not to get 1000 points. The purpose is to write a blog post that ranks well in the search engines and focuses on a specific neighborhood, condo complex, or sub-division in your market. Use this exercise to incorporate the things Brad discusses and get busy dominating hyper local search results in your town.

I'll give you 1000 for each post. (that's 7000 points total) Don't half-ass it. This isn't for the points. This is for you to get better at writing hyper-local posts that target consumers. Every time you write a post, I need you to come back and leave a link to the post in the comment section of this post. That's how I award your points.

The link should be the title of your blog post linking back to the post. That way, if your title is no good, we can help you fix it. Of course, YOU ARE GOING TO READ BRAD'S POST so your titles will be great.

You can do seven total posts over the next two weeks. One post every other day. Do not wait until the last minute and dump 7 posts the last day. This looks bad to consumers who are already following your blog posts. Do one post, every other day for the next two weeks. You have until Thursday, March 25th at 11:59pm Central time to get your first post up. Then get your next post up 48 hours later and so on.

( Know of someone that could benefit from becoming a Rainmaker? They can get their first month of Rainmaker for $5 buy clicking here or you can send them to http://arpromo.com/rainmaker )

Thanks for the information Cheryl.  Looks like a good way to concentrate on writing better local posts.
