Did you know that good communities begin with their school system? Do you realize that in order to protect the value of your home, you must protect your New Jersey schools?
In September 2009, I wrote a post Communities Begin With Their School System. That post pointed how the value of your home is affected if your local schools are compromised and encouraged Fairfield New Jersey residents to Vote for Fairfield Schools in the America's Favorite School Contest.
Now here we are months later and I am writing once again about how to protect the value of your home, you must protect your towns' schools AND the New Jersey Schools. New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, after already cutting state aid to education by approximately $475 billion, is now talking about cutting education by almost another $1 billion this September! Do you realize the impact these cuts will have on New Jersey Schools, New Jersey towns and the value of your New Jersey home?
These cuts will mean fewer programs in math and reading and not enough books and materials in classrooms. You cannot have high quality schools without high quality teachers. Threats of layoffs, increasing the size of their classes and cutting their pension and health care benefits makes it hard to attract and keep quality teachers in New Jersey schools. Compromising New Jersey schools and the children of New Jersey's education will compromise the value of homes within each community of New Jersey and throughout the State of New Jersey.
Your New Jersey community's school system plays a substantial role in the value of your property. What do you think is the first question a family moving with children asks their agent...."What are the schools like?" Even buyers who may not have children today but have future plans of raising a family ask their agent...."What are the schools like?" Even buyers who have no plans on having a family of their own ask their agent...."What are the schools like?" They ask this because if the school system is good, the value of their home will be protected.
Our communities begin with the New Jersey school system. It puzzles me that there are still so many people who don't realize that families move to towns with good school systems. Compromising the schools, compromises the value of homes within a community. Unfortuntately if the school system is compromised, not only does the school suffer but the community suffers as well. As a result, house values in that community may start to decline.

Compromising New Jersey schools WILL compromise the value of your New Jersey home. In addition, New Jersey propert taxes will be raised to make up for the budget cuts. New Jersey Governor Chris Christie's education cuts, unfortunately reflects every resident in New Jersey.
In an attempt to protect the students education AND the value of homes in the West Essex School District, located in North Caldwell, New Jersey, the West Essex Regional School District's employees agreed to a wage freeze for the next school year to avert job losses and program cuts. The West Essex Regional School District serves the sending districts of Essex Fells, Fairfield, North Caldwell and Roseland. New Jersey Governor Chris Christie will personally visit West Essex Regional Schools one day during the week of April 5th congratulate the board and heads of the teacher, administrator, secretarial and janitorial associations and unions for their prompt agreement to accept a pay freeze for next year.
