Tacoma Down Payment Assistance is out of funds for the time being. Do not despair! There are alternatives. If you are planning to make a purchase in Tacoma, you do not necessarily need Tacoma Down Payment Assistance. You can utilize the Washington State House Key program.
We are very fortunate here in Washington state, particularly in Pierce Co. Not only do we have Tacoma Down Payment Assistance (temporarily out of funds, but will be refunded in the future), we have Pierce Co. Down Payment Assistance, City of Lakewood Down Payment Assistance AND the House Key program which will allow you to purchase anywhere in the state of Washington.
What's the catch? There are income restrictions (House Key has the most generous income limits), and debt to income ratio requirements. Plus, all of these programs will require you to take a 5 hour Home Buying class, sponsored by a House Key approved Lender/Realtor team. And Remember, though the Tacoma Down Payment Assistance is out of funds, and it's typically the choice for buying in the City of Tacoma proper, you can still use House Key to purchase a home in the City of Tacoma--you cannot use Pierce Co. funds for that purchase.
