This restaurant opened without much fanfare. The word spread  around restaurant-starved Milton, Massachusetts that a new restaurant had opened on Dorchester Avenue in Dorchester Lower Mills, not exactly a  well-known spot for culinary excellence. Prior to the opening of The Ledge, the higher numbered addresses of Dorchester Avenue were  spots for your local "gin mills" or traditional Irish pub-sttyle restaurants. Certainly, not a place where you could take a date or spouse for a quiet evening or hold a Holiday party.

That all changed with the opening of The Ledge. The restaurant exudes class and refinement. The floors are policshed wood; the exterior has been completey renovated. The bar seats no fewer than 50, and there area generous number  tables in the dining room. In the warm weather, the rear courtyard is opened, and my wife and i had a delicious "al fresco" meal there last Labor Day.

The meal we had last summer has been followed by many similar food experiences, all of which have been positive. This restaurant is well-run, and the food is consistently interesting and well-prepared. Service is at a premium.

People now come to Lower Mills for the Ledge. When they see what a difference a fine restaurant can make on a street, and on an entire neighborhood, they are impressed. Lower Mills is making a big "move", and people would be well-disposed to start loking to this neighborhood for growth in values.
